Under general supervision, assists providers and clinicians with patient preparation and some back office duties. Provides nursing support with various functions such as; preparing behavioral health history, medicati! on reconciliation, ECG testing, care coordination, performing appointment and registration scheduling functions. Assists the provider with clinical clerical functions; ensures smooth work and patient flow within the clinic.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate from an accredited program in Medical Office Assisting, accredited program of Licensed Practical nursing with an active LPN license, or completion of the 1997 DHH Health Care Partner internal training program.
Experience: Completion of a 160 hour Externship or 6 months direct patient care experience in an outpatient setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of outpatient behavioral health office practice. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and physical/ behavioral health treatment procedures. Knowledge of and the ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety, hazards and precautions to est! ablish a safe work environment. Skill in assisting in a variet! y of duties as directed. Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians, clinicians and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to use computers and various software systems. Skills with behavioral health patients preferred.
Certificate/License/Registration: Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
