Under the direct supervision of the Director of Pharmacy/ Pharmacy ! Ops Supervisor, and the day to day direction of a Registered Pharmacist, performs functions related to pharmaceutical preparation and distribution. These activities may include but are not limited to: fills unit dose cassettes, enters and fills unit and physician orders, produces labels and prepares IV admixtures, charges and reconciles billing documents audits supplies in nursing units, prepares medications, enters medication orders in computer. May process outpatient prescriptions. May stock and distribute pharmacy supplies. May be responsible for ordering, control, dispensing, preparation, delivering, filing documents, reconciliation, and destroying controlled substances within the facility.
I. Position Requirements:
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Certified Pharmacy Technician at time of hire.
B. Education:
Satisfactory completion of a formal technician training course preferred. CE required for continued certi! fication.
C. Experience:
Two year experien! ce as a pharmacy technician preferred.
D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
As defined in position competencies.
Typing and use of computer keyboard; reading of some technical medical information, physician orders, patient MARs, checklists, and directions; math skills: basic math, algebra, measurements of amounts; preparation of simple reports, completion of forms and logs, writing telephone messages; communication via telephone, computer and face to face with staff, patients, and small groups; excellent interpersonal skills with patients and other health care professionals. Ability to work with automated systems. Granted Acudose/Meditech access and privileges.
