ECHCS vision
for 2015. VA Eastern Colorado HealthCare System (ECHCS) is complexity level 1a
and provides a full range of
state-of-the-art patient care services. ECHCS
provides tertiary care and services to over 72,000 patients and is a major
referral center for veterans living in Wyoming, Montana, Kansas, and New Mexico.
ECHCS serves as an educational
and research center, it is highly affiliated with
medical and educational institutions. Health Care Services are provided at 15
different geographically dispersed locations incorporating nine Community Based
Outpatient Clinics, two Primary Care Telehealth Outpatient Clinics, one local
and one remote Community Living Center, Homeless VeteranÂ's Domiciliary, a
Community Referral and Resource Center, a P! olytrauma and Blind Rehabilitation
Center and VA presence ! on two DOD bases; Fort Carson and U.S. Air Force Academy
covering a geographical area of over 10,000 square miles. ECHCS employs over

Position Summary:
The Denver Community Living Center (DCLC) is a 60-bed unit, which specializes in skilled nursing for rehabiitation, skilled nursing, respite, long-term care, and comfort care. The Assistant Nurse Manager must demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies in a higly matrix environment. TRAVEL REQUIRED

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) will assist the Nurse Manager with administration, management, supervision and evaluation of nursing personnel, patient care programs and staff activities. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager with the day-to-day operations of the CLC by coordinating patient care through staff assignments, acting as liaison between the nursing staff and the medical and ancillary staff, evaluating and documenting performance of nursing and ancillary personnel, assisting with coordination of educational programs to assist staff in improving their performance, modeling the utilization of evidence based research to improve practice, promoting an environment that fosters employees to perform to their full potential , promoting cultural transformation to fa! cilitate a positive home-like environment for the residents. The ANM wi! ll be responsible for the Restorative Program, assisting with Restorative assessments, working closely with Rehabilitative services, and other personnel. Attend meetings such: Brown Bag, Accreditation Committee, Director's meeting, DCLC Staff Meetings (Chair), DCLC Improvement Committee, Restorative meetings and conference calls, and any other as assigned .
Tour of Duty : This position will require working primarily eight hour day shift, but will include rotation to other shifts as needed. The main assignment will be Monday - Friday, 6 am - 2:30 pm.
Candidate must be willing to work weekends, irregular work hours and extended hours. The candidate must be willing to be placed, detailed or temporarily assigned to other related services and/or locations, if necessary. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Pu! erto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

! EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience

Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Scienc in Nursing (BSN and no experience

Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience.

Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximate! ly 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree ina related field with no experience.

Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience.
Preferred Experience: BSN, highly preferred MSN, preferred At least three years of progressive leadership experience Demonstrated ability to execute position responsibilities with leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex care Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships and communication with staff throughout the health care system and commmunity Ability to collaborate effectively with others to use the group process to identify, analyze, and resolve problems Ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing Demonstrate! s knowledge of accrediting bodies and regulatory standards related to l! ong-term care Willingness to become certified in Rehabilitation (CRRN) within one year of employment Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate goals, objectives, policies and procedures to staff, patients, and the healtlhcare team

GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel.
