The position is responsible for supervising the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)/ Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation activities for the entire clinical division of St. Vincentâs Hospital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Acts as an advisor to the persons using the current Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Provides EMR supervision and direction to physicians, nursing staff and ancillary staff working in the clinical setting.
- M! eet with management and end users to determine quality of EMR ! services and identify their requirements.
- Participates in and manages the development, implementation and on-going assessment of EMR policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Develop, implement and evaluate goals and objectives as they relate to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Meaningful Use Criteria.
- Evaluate new software and hardware to determine usefulness and compatibility with existing software and hardware.
- Maintain relations with vendors of application software in order to receive patches and updates or alerts on newly discovered bugs.
- Assists in the development of new and ongoing developments in clinical usage of EMR. Monitor the consistency, effectiveness and the rollout of such developments across St. Vincentâs.
- Assists in identifying the learning needs of the medical and nursing staff and coordinating continuing medical education presentations and activities in relation to EMR.
- Parti! cipates in Medical Staff, Information Technology, Emergency Dept., nursing staff, administration, and management meetings, as a representation of the Clinical Users of EMR.
- Demonstrates cost awareness, concern for cost containment and conservation of resources as reflected in activities.
- Promotes own professional growth and demonstrates professional conduct
- Maintains confidentiality in all medical records matters.
- Promotes good relationships with other hospital departments in order to achieve optimal working conditions. Demonstrates flexibility and willingly accepts responsibility, notifying supervisor when additional work can be assumed.
- Delegate some responsibilities to appropriate subordinates in order to benefit from smooth running of the Departmentâs operation.
- Receives, evaluates and discusses suggestions and constructive criticism in a professional manner.
- Create user responsibilities (e.g. Super Users,! Normal Users) for different employees based on their position or requi! rements and in coordination with their Supervisor and the IT manager.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
A minimum of:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with two (2) years Registered Nurse experience within the last 36 months, Bachelors preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse license within the state of practice
- Functional knowledge of IT
- Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate hospital-wide initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal skills such as leadership, communication, persuasion, motivation, and loyalty.
- Ability to select, develop, manage and motivate personnel.
- Must be a professional ! of unquestionable integrity, credibility, and character.
- Proficiency in English Language.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, policies and procedures.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
