About the role
As software developer you will be part of a R&D team and/or project team and responsible for realizing new developments with WinCC OA. These new developments can be for remotely controlling cranes and/or for a new software solution that collects diagnostic information and data from different systems on a terminal and make this available for the users (maintenance engineers). The developments created right now will shape the innovations that Siemens Cranes offers for the coming years and you will play a vital role in this.

The main focus will be developments with WinCC OA in an international environment, within the Cranes department in the Netherlands and Germany. It is necessary to travel occasionally for business reasons, in average one month a year in total.

You will have daily contact with the R&D and project engineering teams. Depending on your own preference, the work will be focused within development or more project related. As a software developer you will also work closely with Douwe Wagenaar, head of innovations at Siemens Cranes in the Netherlands.

Your tasks:
  • Designing, creating and maintaining solutions developed within WinCC OA.
  • Supporting the commissioning and acceptance tests.
  • Tracking , documenting, and reporting development progress regularly.
  • Actively participating in the development of automation solutions for harbor cranes.
  • This role offers a growth path in two years to product owner in which you would oversee developments with more a strategic position.

What are we looking for?

You have a curious nature and like to figure things out yourself. You can work independently, but are a team player as well. You can take the initiative when it’s needed and have strong communication skills. Time and task management play an important part in your work ethics. You welcome an international and diverse environment and are willing to occasionally travel internationally for your work.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering / Industrial Automation / Mechatronics or similar.
  • At least 3 years proven experience in the field of complex (automation) projects / in an engineering environment as an engineer.
  • Knowledge of and experience with WinCC OA and/or SIMATIC S7 programming languages.
  • Knowledge of C++, C#, SQL, .NET and experience with IT networks is not required, but is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English and ideally, also in Dutch.
  • In possession of a Dutch driver’s license or willing to obtain a license.
Experience or affinity with container cranes, container terminals or with industrial automation of machines is also very welcome, so you have a good understanding the influence of software on the behavior of the machine.
