Manager of Legislative Affairs
ML Strategies seeks a Legislative Affairs Manager with 1-3 years’ of relevant experience to sit in our Washington, DC, office. ML Strategies is a bipartisan government affairs and policy consulting group. Our team represents and advises a diverse range of clients – from cutting edge start-up companies to Fortune 100 corporations – that rely on us for creative solutions and proactive strategies. This role would support a team of federal lobbyists working on legislative and regulatory relations. The Legislative Affairs Manager will also oversee ML Strategies’ research efforts, managing a team of interns.
Responsibilities
The Legislative Affairs Manager is responsible for supporting a team of full time lobbyists and a overseeing a team of interns. Over time, the Legislative Affairs Manager will grow to be client-facing, interacting directly with clients of ML Strategies federal relations practice. The Legislative Affairs Manager will be responsible for supporting business development and marketing efforts. Finally, the Legislative Affairs Manager will assist lobbyists and administrative personnel with special projects including the planning and execution of political events.
Collaboration with team members is an important component of any role at Mintz. Therefore, the firm encourages working from the office approximately 60% of the time in accordance with the firm's published guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 1-3 years of experience in Congress and/or the Washington advocacy community.
- A demonstrated track record of smart, creative, and effective strategies in legislative and/or regulatory advocacy.
- Experience with policy issues related to energy/environment, health care, financial services, and/or technology/telecom preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Essential skills include exceptional written and verbal communication, attention to detail, good judgment, a team-oriented attitude, solid interpersonal and analytical skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects across multiple clients at one time.
