Description of Job:
This position manages a closed-door, long-term care pharmacy for a 180 bed nursing home. Performs day-to-day professional pharmaceutical management operations of the department which includes drug acquisitions, distribution and monitoring, identifying, resolving, an preventing drug related problems that may affect optimal resident care outcomes, and to research and communicate to our medical and nursing staff and all ancillary services. This position is also responsible for the oversight of the consultant pharmacist services to the nursing home. The pharmacy hours are 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday and include rotating 24-hr on-call hours. Duties include but are not limited to:
Creates policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the pharmacy meets requirements of regulatory agencies.
Develops and maintains pharmacy budget including contract development and manageme! nt.
Member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee, Medication Safety Committee, and Infection Control Committee.
Ensures staff compliance with all organization initiatives, standard facility policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations and standards of accrediting body.
Leads continuous improvement processes by developing and implementing initiatives and motivating staff.
Prepares work schedules and monitors workload to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions and Conditions of Employment:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelorâs degree in pharmacy and three years of experience as a licensed pharmacist.

Must possess and maintain a Pharmacist license in good standing
Must pass a drug screen
Must pass a Colorado Bureau of Investigations and a Federal Bureau of Investigatio! ns background check as a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have:
an advanced degree related to the field
3+ years experience managing an in-patient pharmacy
At least one year experience in a closed-door long-term care facility as a pharmacist manager and/or in a consulting capacity
Certified geriatric pharmacist Highley Desirable Competencies
Working knowledge of CMS nursing home regulations/guidlines pertaining to pharmacy services in a long-term care! facility
Excellent communication skills, computer skills, and customer relations.
Ability to write and present information to managers, patients, nurses, and physicians.
Self directed and motivated.
Ability to manage staff and help them achieve their peak level of performance.
Experience in developing and managing change to improve processes including managing staff through transitions.
