Description: Sky Ridge Medical Center is in need of Director Patient Care - Orthopedics/Spine Medical/Surgical Unit - FT Days right now, this occupation will be placed in Colorado. Develops and maintains systems to promote high levels of patient, employee and physician satis! faction; as well as external customer satisfaction, and improving patient outcomes as evidenced through HCAHPS. Assumes all facets of operations and accountability of Orthopedic department. Responsible for assuring adequate staffing and maintaining appropriate productivity standards. Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills in the care of patients in designated areas. Provides patient care utilizing the nursing process-assessment, care planning, implementation, and reassessment- for identified population per the Colorado Nurse Practice Act. Documents patient care; coordinates interdisciplinary communication and care; participates on hospital committees; facilitate unit meetings. Develops and implements unit specific competencies; annual performance of staff; supervises RN’s, CNA’s, MST’s, and Unit Secretaries. Provides coaching and counseling for employees as appropriate; supervises unit scheduling; monitors and addresses employee attendance.
Develop strategic p! lans specific to orthopedic services including: program develo! pment, quality standards and improvements, patient safety and patient satisfaction initiatives. Promote orthopedic services outreach. Demonstrate understanding of Joint Commission Standards for accredited spine and joint requirements. Lead orthopedic (spine and joint) centers of excellence including state/regional or national accreditations.
Position Requirements:A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado. Current BLS certification.
B. Education:
Graduate of a certified school of nursing â€" BSN required
Masters in nursing or related field required, may be currently enrolled in a Masters program.
C. Experience:
Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in an acute care hospital required.
Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role required.
D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the practice of nursin! g process. Demonstrates the ability to plan and provide for delivery of nursing services. Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of people and to maintain constructive relationships in dealing with them. Ability to communicate effective orally and in writing. Participates in counseling and guidance of personnel. Acts as a representative of administration for patient care. Ability to assume twenty-four hour responsibility for integration of interpersonal aspects in all patient care. Ability to assume leadership role with the health team in planning and delivery of patient care. Recognized personal responsibility in striving for innovative health care delivery which meets contemporary needs and assumes leadership in negotiating for changes in health care.
