Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of the Financial Aid Specialist is to monitor student activity for students enrolled in Part of Term courses. This position will perform essential processing including identifying relevant students, communicating with students, and submitting students for the withdrawal process. This position will also identify and finalize students that need reverse processing and re-awarding.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school and one year of related office experience; or an equivalent combination of education
and experience.

Graduation from high school and demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through three years of specialized office experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Job Duties
This person will be the point of contact for program of study at Charlotte, which will require adjusting aid based on eligible courses. This position will serve as a backup for withdrawal processing, study abroad, and transient study. This position will provide financial aid counseling both on the telephone, by email, and in person. This will include providing information regarding financial aid policies and procedures to prospective students as well as current students, parents, and other visitors. The Support Specialist will monitor and process all Part of Term adjustments made by individual students including sending notifications and adjusting awards. This position will evaluate students enrolled in Part of Term courses for withdrawal process. This position will also adjust financial aid as additional Part of Courses are added. This position will also perform other duties as assigned.
Other Work Responsibilities
Position works closely with other partner offices to ensure federal compliance for part of term, program of study, and withdrawal processing.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Preference of at least 1 year of higher education experience in financial aid.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must have strong attention to detail.
- A strong customer service mentality is essential.
- Working knowledge of the federal, state, and institutional requirements regarding aid administration is preferred.
- Knowledge of Financial Aid, Banner, and Federal Withdrawal Processing.
