All ACP s are required ! to work one 12 hour shift per week through graduation. ACPs will be required to sign a contract agreeing to these terms upon hire. An unlicensed, assistive clinical position for nursing students, that permits them to provide direct patient care within an assigned care unit under the supervision and delegation of a clinical Registered Nurse. The Advanced Care Partner must be currently enrolled in a baccalaureate nursing program or have graduated from an accredited BSN program. Qualified individuals may be classified as an Advanced Care Partner while awaiting acceptance into the UCH Graduate Nurse Residency Program and/or while awaiting successful completion of the NCLEX exam and RN licen! sure. If the Advanced Care Partner fails their 1st NCLEX exami! nation attempt they must retest within 60 days. If the Advanced Care Partner fails the second NCLEX attempt they will be terminated from University of Colorado Hospital.
Minimum Education: Currently enrolled as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) student who has completed a Nursing Fundamentals Course and the first clinical rotation (Med/Surg I). Nursing students who have graduated from a BSN program, and have begun the application process to the Graduate Nurse Residency Program, may be classified as an Advanced Care Partner for no more than180 days post graduation, pending the start date of the Graduate Nurse Residency Program and successful completion of the NCLEX examination and RN licensure. If an Advanced Care Partner fails the NCLEX exam they must retest within 60 days. If the Advanced Care Partner fails the NCLEX exam on their second attempt they will be terminated from University of Colorado Hospital. This termination may occur prior to the180 day! period.
Licensure and Certification: Current American Heart Association BLS provider card

ACPs are required to complete a weeklong orientation on the week of August 12th. It is the ACPs responsiblity to coordinate personal / school schedules.
