To train in all departments (Phlebotomy, Logistics, Accessioning and Client Services) and to learn essential duties and responsibilities of each department. Duties and responsibilities to inc! lude, but not limited to: Perform a variety of specimen collection techniques from patients in patient service centers, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living locations, and client’s facilities. Pre-analytical processing of medical specimens. Preparation of specimens for testing through the following: sorting, coding, inputting, labeling, swapping, receiving, manifesting and filing. Able to drive in a safe and courteous manner. To provide pickup and delivery services for MSCL clients. Answer telephones, able to handle phone requests, communicating effectively with clients. Professionally represent MSCL to the community.
Responsibilities
Perform a variety of specimen collection techniques from patients in patient service centers, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living locations, and client’s facilities.
Pre-analytical processing of medical specimens.
Preparation of specimens for testing through the following: sorting, ! coding, inputting, labeling, swapping, receiving, manifesting ! and filing.
Ability to drive in a safe and courteous manner, good driving record.
Provide pickup and delivery services for MSCL clients.
Answer telephones, able to handle phone requests, communicating effectively with clients.
Professionally represent MSCL to the community.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of computer operating systems and other computer application software.
Ability to work without direct supervision.
Experienced in phlebotomy.
Age 21 years or older.
Valid driver's license, good driving record, no violations in the past year, no more than two moving violations in the past 36 months, no history of felony motor vehicle convictions, no history of DUI convictions or diversions, zero at-fault accidents in the past 36 months, able to drive manual shift vehicle.
Able to change a flat tire
Good stamina: physically abl! e to lift bulky containers (up to 45 lbs.) and able to do lots of walking and standing.
Good public relation skills.
Organized and detail oriented.
Independent judgment and good reasoning ability.
Ability to learn basic medical terminology.
Accurate and efficient typing skills (35 WPM minimum).
Ability to work with accuracy and speed in a team oriented effort while paying close attention to detail.
Preferred education, skills or experience
College-level science background
10-key experience
Specimen processing experience
Knowledge of medical terminology
Stress management skills
Willingness to be flexible with hours scheduled
