The following essential functions of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with your supervisor, and/or in coordination wi! th other staff. Additional work functions and duties may be assigned.
PARTICIPANT CARE (Approximately 90% of Time)
- Pulls charts for participants, performs any necessary documentation in medical records, and performs computer entries to update participant information.
- Assists in prioritizing the scheduling of participants by consulting with medical staff, on a daily basis, to manage the participant flow.
- Takes the vital signs of participants and performs collection of specimens including phlebotomy, finger sticks and pulse ox tests as requested by medical staff. Reports abnormal findings and changes to Registered Nurse.
- Ensures that all lab specimens are labeled and ready for courier to pick up in a timely manner.
- Prepares participants to be seen in the clinic by assisting them in disrobing and positioning participants in beds, chairs or exam tables. Ensures that participants are ready to be seen by nurses and physicians i! n an appropriate state.
- Assists physicians and nurses! with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments that they have been trained and competency on, may assist in medical procedures as requested by staff within skill and ability.
- Assists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, inhalers, eye drops, injections etc., to participants, depending on qualifications and site requirements.
- Schedules necessary appointments and lab draws for participants for clinic for internal and external specialist and appointments when requested.
- Educates participants and notifies them of lab results as assigned.
- Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies, materials and cleanliness. Ensures that exam rooms are always well stocked.
- Maintains inventory of clinic supplies and puts needed supplies on re-order list. Ensures that necessary supplies are always available.
- Performs any necessary filing or clerical duties necessary to com! plete charting requirements.
- Completes weekly audits as assigned.
- Confirms that lab results are received and contact the lab company as needed for additional information.
- Writes next dayâs schedule on the white board and contacts participants/families and/or the facilities to remind them of appointment(s) and to confirm transportation arrangements.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program displaying the areas of practice and competencies for the occupation of Medical Assistant.
- A minimum of one year working wi! th the frail or elderly is required.
- Qualified Medication Admi! nistration Person (QMAP) status in good standing.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy functions.
- Skilled in identifying and recommending problem resolution.
