Position Summary: Responsible for operations of Cancer Care Departments including 30-bed Bone Marrow T! ransplant In-patient Unit, 18-bed Oncology Unit, and Infusion Center. Coordinates the integration of the services with respect to overall hospital functions. Be accountable for the implementation of an effective and continuous program to measure and improve performance. Assures a high level of customer satisfaction. Manages productivity to achieve budgetary targets.
Presbyterian St. Lukeââ¬â¢s Medical Center is a major center for Blood Cancers and Bone Marrow Transplant. In 2012, nearly 300 bone marrow transplants were successfully completed at Presbyterian St. Lukeââ¬â¢s Medical Center. Approximately 60% are autologous transplants and 40% are allogeneic transplants.

General Responsibilities:
Establish nursing care standards based on current evidence in oncology nursing practice.
Hire, coach, counsel and evaluate nurses providing inpatient care including utilizing an appropriate management structure to ensure efficient nursing operations.
Direct and manage the activities of the nurse coordinators; recruits, hires, guides, and evaluates. These nurse coordinators are responsible for pre-transplant assessment, testing, and preparation; patient and family education; preparation of admission orders; care coordination with referring community providers; coordination with the unrelated donor program (search, testing, collection);! and completion of disability and/or insurance paperwork for patients.
Collaborate with Administrative Program Director and Program Physicians to provide overall leadership to the Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant program.
Quality Improvement:
Establish, direct, and maintain a program of quality management for the clinical program, the collection program (marrow harvest and apheresis), and the cell processing program which includes:
o policies, procedures and systems to identify and develop performance measures for each of the program components;
o processes for collection, analysis, review, and documentation of data related to clinical results and performance;
o protocols for validation of significant procedures, processes, equipment, reagents, labels, containers, packaging materials, computer systems (as appropriate to each program component);
o use of the results of performance audits and validation studies to identify impro! vement opportunities and strategies to achieve improvement.
Regulatory:
Directs preparation process and on-going maintenance of standards for accreditation by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapies (FACT), the only national accreditation body for stem cell transplantation.
I. Position Requirements:
A. Education: BSN preferred.
B. Licensure/Certs: Colorado Registered Nurse license or eligible to obtain a Colorado RN License. Basic Life Support required.
C. Experience: Minimum five years in oncology nursing with position demonstrating increasing responsibilities. Recent clinical experience in specialty.
D. Special Qualifications: Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the practice of oncology nursing. Demonstrates the ability to plan and provide for delivery of nursing services. Demonstrates ability to establish clinical standards based on current evidence and then develops policies, procedures, and systems to meet quality and service standards. ! Ability to problem-solve independently and work effectively with staff in problem resolution. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Participates in counseling and guidance of personnel. Ability to assume twenty-four hour responsibility for patient care. Ability to assume leadership role with the health care team in planning and delivering patient care
