This position is located at the Mental Health Center of Denver located on 12th & Claremont.
Under general supervision, works with clinical staff/physician to provide primary healthcare to patients. Examines and diagnoses patients and develops treatment plans. As appropriate for clinical setting provides treatment for illnesses, injury, emergencies, prenatal care, follow up, and screening and testing. Performs testing, referral to physicians as needed, writes prescriptions, and performs procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols and available equipment. Must function well
as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including listening to others and considering novel and unconventional
approaches to solving problems. Be highly self-motivated, organized, and capable of using his/her time efficiently in a fluid variable clinic structure where standard work and process are established or modified
in a dynamic clinical setting. Will! ing to cross train and perform other clinic roles to help the ! team when staffing needs dictate.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelorâs Degree from an accredited school of nursing and successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program. Masters preferred.
Experience: One year related clinical experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of medical principals, procedures and community resources. Skill in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams and formulating assessments of and treatment plans for patients. Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis. Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications. Skill in utilizing
the principles and practices of effective and persuasive communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies. Skill in obtaining information from patients, calming and reassuring patients and motivating patie! nts to accept
treatments. Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment. Ability to respond
appropriately in emergency situations. Ability to prepare accurate reports. Ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.
Certificate/License/Registration: Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification/CPR.
Certification by a national certifying body approved by the Colorado Board of Nursing, Current registration with the Colorado Board of Nursingâs Advanced Practice Registry. Provisional or Full
Prescriptive Authority, if eligible. Advance Practice Nurses without Provisional Prescriptive Authority
must be actively working towards obtaining Provisional Prescriptive Authority within five years from
date of hire. Advance Practice Nurses with Provisional Prescriptive Authority must be actively working
towards Full Prescriptive Author! ity within five years after provisional authority is granted. Depending!
on the needs of the assigned area incumbents in this job title may be required to obtain additional
certifications or training in one or more specialty areas. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
