Under RN supervision, functions to assist the nursing staff in diversified duties in the delivery of! patient care and support activities. Collaborates with other members of the patient care team to promote holistic patient care. Must demonstrate competency in all of the following: collection and documentation of vital signs, intakes and outputs, weights, and other measurements as delegated; activities of daily living; activity support and clerical duties. May also be required to demonstrate competency in any of the following as defined by specific unit: POCT, set-up/assist with procedures, phlebotomy, tube feedings, vital records, and retail sales. Assists the RN with patient care to include bathing, turning, toileting, activity support, ambulating, comfort measures and skin care. May also be required to demonstrate competency in any of the following, as defined by the specific critical care unit: collection and documentation of weights, intake and output, and other measurements; phlebotomy, spinal immobilization, POCT, EKG monitoring, performing 12 lead EKGs, set-up/assi! st with procedures, and tube feedings. Reports timely, accurat! e and pertinent information to RNs throughout the shift. Maintains a clean, safe environment including patient's room, unit common areas and hallways. Assists in maintaining an efficient nursing unit through clerical and receptionist duties. Performs order entry/transcription, maintains medical records, maintains supplies and equipment, and ensures unit-specific patient charges. May be utilized as a core trainer in the orientation of new staff. Works efficiently with other departments to maximize patient throughput.
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma. Certified by the State of Colorado to practice as a CNA or current certification as EMT, BLS required.
Minimum Experience:
A minimum of 3 months of patient care experience. .
Strength (Medium Work): Exerting 20 to 50 lbs of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 lbs of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
